What is our ESP mentorship programme?
Our ESP mentorship programme is designed to help neurodivergent students struggling in mainstream education or school-leavers navigating life after school, such as choosing the right university/college course, apprenticeship or other employment path for them.
It is a three-step programme, (online or in person) centred around Empowerment, Strengths and Positivity. It typically runs over three weeks, with a one-hour session per week and out-of-session activities. However, we are happy to adapt the logistics to your requirements. Parents are welcome to be involved in the sessions. Our team hold Enhanced DBS Certificates. The programme can also be delivered as a workshop with up to five participants.
The brief details are as follows:
1. Empowerment: Feeling in control rather than being controlled by triggers and difficult situations. This can include areas such as school/college/university attendance, recruitment processes, communication with teaching staff, managers and colleagues, and socialising with peers.
2. Strengths: Identifying individual specialist interests and strengths and how to focus on and use them to overcome challenges in mainstream education, apprenticeships, and employment or to find a career path that aligns with specialist interests and strengths.
3. Positivity: How to approach setbacks and pitfalls with a positive mindset. For example, applying a can-do attitude, seeing positive opportunities in adversity and how to develop and maintain positivity.
